The Okavango River rises in Angola and flows for more than 1300 km before entering Botswana in the extreme north west of the country.

The famous Moremi Game Reserve, rated as one of the top wildlife areas in southern Africa, is some 4000 square kilometres in extent, and encompasses a large part of the eastern section of the Okavango Delta, and land further east. Bird watching in both the Delta and Moremi is superlative.

Every year flood waters from the north filter through the “panhandle” of the Delta in the north-west, before spreading into the greater Delta area, and arriving at Maun in the winter months between June and August. 

An array of safari experiences including mokoro (dugout canoe) trips, walking safaris, Tiger and Bream fishing, horse safaris, short walks, elephant interaction, game drives and night drives, is available. Some camps are more suited to a particular activity e.g. Mokoro trips, Game drives or power boat excursions.
