Livingstone and Victoria Falls Tours

The Victoria Falls as seen from Zambia

Livingstone, the former capital of North Western and North Eastern Rhodesia, got its name as a result of its association with famous explorer Dr David Livingstone, who explored much of the surrounding area and was the first white man to see the Victoria Falls.

Key highlights are...

  • Perfect honeymoon destination
  • Excellent accommodation
  • Huge selection of activities
  • Elephant-back rides
  • One of the Wonders of the World

Livingstone is only 10 km from the splendour of the Victoria Falls, one of the Wonders of the World and culturally, the town has much to offer its visitors. There are no less than three museums, one of which is the Livingstone Museum (Zambia’s National Museum), where an excellent collection of memorabilia relating to Dr David Livingstone is on display.

Many believe that the Zambian view of the Victoria Falls is better than that from Zimbabwe. The Falls are a sight never to be forgotten, even by the most travelled.

On the opposite cliff, facing the falls, you can take a well marked and paved walk through the lush rain forests with its miniature rainbows and thick vegetation. Every so often the path will open out into a clearing for yet another view of the falls.

Further along this path is the Knife Edge Bridge which affords an impressive panorama, depending on the time of year. The falls are some 1.7 km wide, with an average drop of some 90 - 95 metres. The flow is broken up by small islands on the lip of the falls. At peak floods over 550,000 cubic metres of water per minute pass over the falls!

A large range of activities are also on offer. These include, among others: abseiling, boat cruises, bungee jumping, canoeing, elephant-back riding, fishing, hiking, helicopter flights, micro-lighting and white water rafting.

Some of these activities are for true adrenalin junkies and are not available to children under certain ages. Please check with us in good time, and we will get the necessary information for you.

Cultural villages, craft markets and historical sites contribute toward making a visit to this area a truly colourful and varied adventure ....  and a must!

News

Well, those who will be visiting Botswana's Okavango Delta in the next few months are in for a treat! Every year this magnificent wonderland gets inundated by flood waters originating from the highlands of Angola. The waters arrive at the top or "panhandle" of the Delta in about January and get to the "end" of the Delta in June or so.
